Julie founded Cash & Rocket in 2011 with a vision to change the world through the creation of a platform that inspires and supports women from all walks of life. As a philanthropist her aim is to raise money for charities around the world, which will make a huge difference to the lives of many. Inspiring, motivating and empowering women are what drives her. She strives to create a platform that women can turn to for advice, confidence and inspiration.
We took Julie out of her busy schedule, organising this year’s US Tour, to chat to her about what she’s up to.
This is the first time that Cash & Rocket is travelling outside of Europe. What excites you about introducing the Tour the US?
To test our concept in a new environment, drive some spectacular routes and expand the Cash & Rocket community to help our charities!
What are you aiming to achieve for your charities this year?
To allow them to raise their profile in a new market and to help them fundraise for their future requirements not just the immediacy.
You have seven beautiful children — how do you instill the values of giving back and women’s empowerment in them?
I talk to them about what I do and encourage them to strive to be proud men and women when we all sit down for dinner in the evening. My elder girls have been to Africa with me to see the projects we support first hand – it’s important to integrate them into my work.
You’ll be behind the wheel yourself on the Tour. Who will you be driving with this year?
I’ll be driving with Juliet Angus and Selita Ebanks this year so I’ve got a novice and and old hand…Juliet who’s is a high energy and engaging as you get has become a friend over the last few years and I look forward to her impromptu raps as we hit the highway. Selita is one of the most consistent participants on C&R having completed all but one of the rallies and is passionate about supporting our charity projects…
If you could only pack three things to take with you on the Tour, what would you pack?
Sunglasses, Vitamin C and a massive suitcase
What songs will you play on repeat when driving through the US?
I am seriously clueless when it’s comes to music…hence why Juliet who is encyclopaedic about Music and is mean rapper got the spot…
You’re turning 40 this year. Have you got any plans on how you’ll celebrate?
Well to be honest I already started…my husband arranged a secret ski weekend with my friends and just two weeks ago he took me on the Orient Express from Venice and we’re doing an amazing Safari in December to round it off…I love my Birthday and in Denmark we always do a big breakfast with our family and then I have a lunch with my friends…
What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting a social good organization, or to someone who wants to give back but not sure how to begin?
Do your research. Find a project that you feel passionate about and don’t rush in. It has to be a relationship so take it slow.
When the tour concludes, you’ll go to visit the organisations that Cash & Rocket supports. Tell us about those experiences and how they’ve motivated you to “drive the change.”
These experiences are some of the most special and moving moments of my life. Seeing what we can change on the ground and hearing the difference our community has made to thousands of lives is difficult to describe. I am so proud of the Cash & Rocket Community and what we’ve achieved in the last 6 years. We will continue to Drive the Change and help women and children around the world less fortunate than ourselves.
Everyone can get involved – Lets Drive the Change
