Dior and I
Dior and I brings the viewer inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection as its new artistic director—a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure- filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand’s past, the film is also a colorful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons’ vision.
The director Frédéric Tcheng’s statement:
I met Olivier Bialobos, Dior’s Director of Communications, at a preview screening for my previous film Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel. He liked it very much and we started a conversation. It was six months after Galliano’s traumatic departure, and the brand had yet to announce a new designer. I saw the premise for a good story. I had witnessed the last collection of a designer – the end of an era, in Valentino The Last Emperor, and I was curious to witness what comes after – the beginning of a new era. Raf Simons, one of the rumored candidates, represented something new in fashion. I was intrigued.
