We always knew Brie Larson was one of the good guys and but she proves it at the last Oscar’s ceremony when she took the time to honor the sexual assault survivors who joined Lady Gaga on stage performing her Oscar-nominated song “‘Til It Happens To You,”. What a beautiful moment!
This touching moment wasn’t captured on television. The 26-year-old—who won the Best Actress award for her role in Room—greeted and hugged each of the survivors who performed with Gaga during a commercial break. The moving video was taken moments after the survivors stepped off stage; It was recorded inside the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles by the Hollywood Reporter ’s Chris Gardner.
“Then best actress fave Brie Larson gets up, hugs each, every one,” Gardner wrote to caption the 30-second clip.
This is seriously so sweet, and because of that she our woman of the week.
Larson earned her Oscar for her portrayal of an abuse victim held captive for seven years in an adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s 2010 novel, also called Room. The award marks both her first win and her first nomination at the Oscars; a formidable achievement for the actrees.
