Emma Watson is today the Woman of the Week for her role as UN Women goodwill ambassador. She’s set herself the task of making women equal to men.
“We will never achieve gender equality unless everyone – girls, boys, women, men – are involved.” That was Emma Watson’s message in Davos, where she went to launch UN Women’s new HeforShe campaign during the UN World Economic Forum.
Since assuming her role as UN ambassador in July 2014, Watson has made a big impact on the international stage, making the most of her fame and global fanbase to highlight gender equality. In august last year she made an exclusive film for British Vogue addressing equal rights in the fashion industry.

Their Mission
The world is at a turning point. People everywhere understand and support the idea of gender equality. They know it’s not just a women’s issue, it’s a human rights issue. And when these powerful voices are heard, they will change the world. The time for that change is now.
HeForShe is inviting people around the world to stand together to create a bold, visible force for gender equality. And it starts by taking action right now to create a gender equal world.
Your Voice Matters
HeForShe wants every voice to be heard in classrooms and corner offices around the world. Everyone has a say. Everyone has a role. Every unique contribution is essential to achieving gender equality.
Watson encouraged us to ask ourselves the very same question that she had asked herself when debating whether to get involved, “If not me, who? If not now, when?”
