Jennifer Lawrence is headed to Cuba – on the big screen.
Cuba, an untouched vintage replica of what could have been the American dream. Grand houses adorned with peeling paintwork; surrounded by 1950s American-made cars filling every driveway and salsa music echoing from every corner. You can almost drink the faint smell of cigars from bars nearby, reminding you that a mojito is only a moment away to quench your thirst from the unforgiving Caribbean sun. Everyone you meet wants to be your friend, willing to share the history of a truly remarkable place. Old Havana is one of my favourite retreats, so much so that I am proud to call my youngest daughter Mini Havana…
Jennifer Lawrence is not only The Golden Globe winner but she has also signed to play Marita Lorenz in ‘Marita’. A biopic about the woman who, at the age of 19, met and had an affair with Fidel Castro in late-’50s communist Cuba — only to leave the island, join the anti-communist movement in the U.S., and return on a mission set by the CIA to kill her former lover.
That will for sure be an interesting role to play. Perhaps the role will lead to another Oscar… At the age of 25, Jennifer has been nominated four times, more than any other actor her age. She walked away with the gold statue, in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.
Love, intrigue, attempted murder…and Jennifer Lawrence? What more could you want? This young lady is really picking up some good work. Well done Jennifer!
